How to split multiple quantity orders into several shipment labels
When fulfilling orders like the LYN Kit, which can be easily shipped in quantities of 1 and multipliers of 4, in quantities that doesn't easily fit the boxes or quantity multipliers, we can split the order into individual quantity shipping labels.
For example, an order of 3 LYN Kits could be split into 3 separate labels, allowing us to easily send them in the original box and print 3 labels for the order. 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 type of deal.
How to Split an Order
Step 1: Click on the order you are wanting to fulfill and split into smaller labels.
Go to the orders page in Shopify and click on the desired order.
Step 2: Click on the "..." in the top right corner of the main fulfillment section.
This is the primary section on the order page. It should include information like fulfillment status, shipping profile, order products and quantities, and so on.
Step 3: Select "Split Fulfillment"
This will allow you to break the original quantity for the shipping label, for example: 3, into 2/3 or 1/3. At the time of writing this guide, you can only split a fulfillment one at a time. If you have an order of 3, you will need to split it twice in order to end up with 3 individual labels.
Step 4: Select the quantity 1, then click the "Split Fulfillment" button
Doing this will split the original fulfillment of 3 items in 1 label into 2 items in 1 label, then another label with 1 item. Our goal is to do this again so we have individual labels.
Step 5: Repeat Steps 3 & 4 until the order has individual labels for each item.
At the end of this, the original order of 3 items should have 3 separate fulfillments.
If you need to merge the orders back into one large fulfillment/ 1 label, or to setup other fulfillment ratios, click the same "..." button and then click "Merge Fulfillment".
